Conservatories

Basically to be exempt from needing planning permission your new conservatory needs to fit into the following criteria.

Your conservatory needs to be built at ground level and the floor plan should be less than 30 square meters. To be classed as a conservatory at least half of the new walls and three quarters of the roof need to be either glazed or made of a translucent material. There must be external doors separating the conservatory from the house and all glazing and electrical installations must comply with building regulations. However to be one hundred percent confident that you do not need planning permission for your new conservatory you should contact your local councils planning department who should be able to advise you.

If you do decide to have a new conservatory fitted then it might be worth contemplating replacing your old windows and doors with state of the art replacement windows and doors which benefit from the latest in double glazing technology. Buy having new replacement windows and doors fitted at the same time can often save you money. New replacement windows and double glazing will also help to make your home more energy efficient which should lower your gas and electricity bills again helping to save you money.

We will be happy to help you with all this issues.
